Society through the prism of exclusion

This project encourages fully institutionalised individuals (such as people in prisons, mental health facilities, etc.) to create new symbolic worlds with the goal of contributing to the social and cultural value of expressive languages produced in these and other extreme life situations.

The project was put together in two phases: Firstly, an eight-month participation and research project was produced with collectives that provide care to institutionalised individuals in Martutene prison. The project will lead to an exhibition at the Koldo Mitxelena Centre which will also include part of an «irritated art» archive from Italy.

Numerous activities and conferences will be organized around this exhibition which will invite reflection on the social and political mechanisms of exclusion and inclusion which operate in our societies.
