A celebration of difference and diversity

Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France and, finally, the Basque Country. Those were the countries visited on the sexuality route. It seems impossible to summarise in a few lines everything that we've experienced across the 4,000 kilometres, eight nations and during the three months that this expedition has taken. Even more so when, at every moment, our experiences blend together and become more and more blurry in our memories. But we'll give it a go.

J.L. Rebordinos: "Films that stimulate and transmit knowledge about sex are essential"

Finally in San Sebastian! It seems like just yesterday that we headed off to Russia, anxious to see what this adventure had to offer. Now, after three months peddling around, we have returned, and the feeling is bitter-sweet. On the one hand, we're sad that this moment in our lives has come to an end. On the other, we're happy and euphoric to have successfully completed this mission abroad for San Sebastian 2016. And let's not forget about the nostalgia. Be it as it may, we are comforted by the fact that we have arrived in time to see some of Zinemaldia's films. Since we've arrived in San Sebastian at such a significant time, why not take advantage of the fact to speak with festival director José Luis Rebordinos about eroticism in film and erotic cinema?

From touch simulators to the 3D clitoris

September has arrived, which means it's time to go back to school. This happens earlier in some places than in others. In France for example, schools open at the start of the month – a week before they do in the Basque Country. And you can tell. For the last few days, the streets in the towns and cities that we have passed through have been less lively in the mornings. Normally, it would be no surprise to see kids freeze like statues as soon as they saw us, paralysed by such an unusual sight. Afterwards, they would come running over to find out who we were and what we were doing on "those big pink bikes". We also still remember that Polish man who insisted that our bikes were purple and not pink because his mind couldn't assimilate the fact that three men were pedalling away on tricycles that were "a colour for little girls and women". As far as he was concerned, the only men who would wear that colour were homosexuals, and homosexuality isn't exactly highly regarded in Poland.

Eroticism, the poetry of love

Getting lost in the streets of Paris while riding on a bicycle is simply an unforgettable experience. Especially when you suddenly find yourself before the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame, for example.

Therapy with body and heart

From champagne to cheese. This is the detour that Sexuality route has taken this week. We started off in Reims, which is where a great deal of the French bubbly industry is based, before moving on through vast swathes of countryside towards the capital. We eventually reached Meaux, which is famous for its regional speciality of brie.

Beyond the tyranny of the genitals

Three borders in one week. Although, in reality, except for the languages, it doesn't feel like it. The maps and our GPS tell us that we've left Germany for a quick visit to Luxembourg and a two-day stopover in the Belgian countryside. However, this isn't what our senses communicate to us. Neither the landscape, the people nor many customs have varied. The road signs have, yes, but little beyond that. And with these sudden changes of country we say farewell to that part of the Route for Sexuality where we had eight states ahead of us. Now it's just France before we reach the Basque Country. However: no one will take away from us the good memories of Luxembourg, the fortress city in the heart of Europe.

It's never too late to stimulate

Before saying good-bye to Germany, it's time to talk about sexuality among the elderly. To do this, we interviewed Christina Graefe. After years tending to the erotic setbacks of sixty-, seventy-, and eighty-year-olds, these are the central conclusions of this therapist from Wiesbaden.

Your body, my passion

After 2,000 kilometres what we really wanted in Frankfurt, rather than going for a bike ride, was a good massage. So, linking this desire to the theme of the route, we meet Tara Wera Münchberg, masseuse at the Refugium centre (Frankfurt). Her speciality: tantric massage.

The first month of the route through sexuality!

This week we are celebrating: the first month of the route through sexuality! Behind us is Kaliningrad and the cyclist club that so warmly welcomed us and showed us the secrets of the region; Poland with its milk bars and the Czech Republic with its castles. Although this is the time to reflect and remember all of those individuals that joined us in our project throughout this journey, it is also the time to look forward and see that two thirds of this odyssey called Biziz lay before us. So with a bit of nostalgia, but above all with excitement to see what awaits us, we have happily crossed the German border.

Machines from yesterday and today

Prague. With its castle, its astronomical clock, its churches and museums, its bridges and art nouveau decorated façades, it is one of Central Europe's must-see destinations and one of the key points on our route. On its cobbled streets and pavements crowded with tourists you can find countless stories of romance, outbursts of passion, unbridled desire and endless pleasures. Right now, however, we want to stop and look at the contraptions and inventions that we as human beings have invented to let our deepest fantasies take over and go in search of that climax that fills us with life.

Multiple virginity

Sun. Rain. Sun. Rain. It may be coincidence, but the weather here in the other European Capital of Culture reminds us suspiciously of Donostia-San Sebastián. That, as well as the constant hustle and bustle and the never-ending list of events. And what with the cobbled streets and hordes of bikes everywhere, it's hard not to fall for the charm of Wroclaw.

More passion, less repression

Grudziadz, Bydgoszcz, Znin, Gniezno, Poznan. Our adventure through Poland continues. Every day, the country offers us something new and the only pang of regret is that our stay in the region will shortly be coming to an end. But the journey must go on and the truth is, little by little, we're starting to get a feel for it. Virtually everything has gone smoothly, except for one thing: Who said we wouldn't be able to travel along a mountain trail with our tricycles?

The tyranny of the three Gs

The first week of the route through sexuality, the first week of unforgettable experiences. There are 282 km between Kaliningrad (Russia) and Grudziadz (Poland), but what kilometres they are! We didn't miss out on heavy downpours -which welcomed us at the border-, nor high temperatures. Up to 35 degrees in the sun, and we had to drag these monsters we have for bikes across a dirt path by ourselves. When our tyres would sink into the sand and we had to jump off to push, our only company were horseflies and mosquitoes.

Body and mind

Pedalling between the massive Soviet buildings of Kaliningrad it is difficult not to be impressed by their consistency and austerity. Witnesses of a bygone era, the grey walls of these monuments hide countless stories of people who have lived and coexisted, sharing ideas, interests, goals, feelings, wishes, desires ... and also bodies. But in Russia it has not always been possible to manage one's body in a natural way. "In fact, can you do it even now?" asks Maria Kohanovskaya, a teacher at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

Sexologizing Europe on Pedals

Many of you who have just read that title surely have your eyebrows wrinkled, your eyes wide open and your mouth twisted – all this without deciding to put out a half smile or otherwise make a gesture with your lips. But, despite how surreal it may appear at first sight, that's precisely what the Biziz project is about: everyone travelling together from Kaliningrad (Russia) to San Sebastian In total, around 3,000 km of pedalling through eight states that will be brightened up by stores which are fully of life and intense, sexological titbits.
